This calculator tells you how many calendar days sit between two dates and restates that span in whole weeks and in hours. Fill in the start and end date, and tick the inclusive option when both the first and the last day count towards the period — which is how leave, sick notes and business trips are counted. Shortcut buttons set today, swap the fields or clear them, and your dates stay on your device. Fill in the start and end date fields and press the calculate button. The tool subtracts one from the other and reports the gap three ways: in days, in whole weeks plus a remainder, and in hours. The order of the fields only affects the sign of the answer — if the start date is later, use the swap button to put things right.
Left unticked, you get the plain difference: 1 July to 14 July is 13 days, because the first day is not counted. Tick it and one day is added, giving 14 — which is how the length of annual leave, a sick note, a business trip or a tenancy is normally worked out, since both the opening and closing day are chargeable.
Yes. The maths follows the real calendar rather than an assumed 365-day year, so 29 February is picked up automatically whenever it falls inside the range. That is why the same pair of dates in different years can give 365 or 366 days: 1 Jan 2024 to 1 Jan 2025 is 366 days, while the following year is 365.
No, it counts consecutive calendar days, weekends and public holidays included. For a rough working-day figure, divide the result by seven and multiply by five, then subtract the public holidays that fall in the range according to your own country's calendar. There is no built-in holiday table.
Because the end date comes before the start date — typically the deadline went into the top field and today's date into the bottom one. Press the swap button to exchange the two values and the figure turns positive. A negative answer is still useful: its size tells you how many days ago the second date fell.
The fields use the browser's standard date control, which happily accepts the nineteenth century as well as years beyond 2100; the only requirement is a four-digit year. So working out the age of a document, the countdown to a centenary or the number of days since a great-grandparent was born all work fine.
Yes, and arguably better there: tapping a date field opens the native scroll picker on iOS or the calendar sheet on Android, so it is hard to mistype a date. The today button saves a few taps, and the copy button drops the finished answer straight into a message or a note.
