Tool guide
Every vertical feed hides parts of the frame behind its own chrome: a column of like and share buttons on the right, the caption, handle and navigation along the bottom, search bars up top. Text that lands under any of it is simply never read. Load your clip, press «TikTok», «Reels» or «Shorts», type your caption into the subtitle field and move it with the sliders. Overlaps are highlighted, and a report covering ratio, resolution, duration and file size builds alongside — all locally, the clip never leaves the tab. See also: reframe the clip to vertical proportions, try the cover against the Reels feed, check the file before uploading to TikTok.
They are averaged zones for typical screens, not pixel-perfect maps. Real padding shifts with phone model, caption length, a music credit, an ad label and the app version. The practical rule: keep text inside the central area with 5-10% of margin beyond the zone edge, and it will survive both interface updates and narrow screens.
The safe band runs roughly from 15% to 78% of frame height. Below that come the description, handle and nav bar; above it sit the search and follow controls. The vertical slider starts at 64%, which works for one or two lines. For three lines, raise the block and shrink the text, or the last line slides under the interface.
No — it only surfaces the problem before you post. Fixes happen where the clip was built: move the captions in CapCut or Premiere, reframe with an aspect ratio converter, compress elsewhere. The point is to avoid discovering a clipped caption in the live feed after the first few hundred people have already watched.
Yes, noticeably. TikTok has the densest right-hand button column and the tallest bottom description area. Reels takes less space at the bottom but adds an audio row. Shorts has a larger bottom bar with the channel name and subscribe button. A clip that is clean on Reels often loses its bottom caption line on TikTok, so check all three.
The numbers move, but roughly: Shorts up to 3 minutes, Reels up to 3 minutes in feed, TikTok allows considerably longer. Target 1080×1920 at 9:16. The report shows your file's actual figures so you can compare them against the current platform rules before the upload, not after it is rejected.
No. The clip opens through a local object URL, zones are drawn over a plain video element, and metadata — duration, resolution, size and MIME type — is read from the file in the browser. Not a byte of video leaves the machine, which makes it safe for an unreleased campaign cut.
Yes. Pause the video on the moment you care about, overlay the chosen platform's zones and press PNG checkshot for a still with the markup baked in. That is handy for a title card: it is on screen for a fraction of a second, and a clipped headline there costs more than a mistake mid-clip.
Before: Caption sits at 92% of frame height, platform set to TikTok
After: Highlight flags an overlap with the description and nav bar; at 76% height the clash is gone
Before: File is 1920×1080, 4 minutes 30 seconds, 240 MB
After: Report: 16:9 instead of 9:16 and duration over the Reels limit — resize and split required
Before: Text pinned to the right edge, exactly where TikTok stacks like and share buttons
After: Narrowing the block with the width slider clears the button column and keeps the text legible
