Convert Text to UPPERCASE Online — Free

This converter raises every letter of the pasted text to a capital. Use it for a short banner or cover headline, for a table header row, or to normalize serial numbers, promo codes and currency codes that are written in capitals by standard. Keep it short: a full paragraph in caps is measurably slower to read and reads as shouting in a message thread. The page converts locally in your browser. See also: drop the same text back to lowercase, capitalize every word for a headline, tidy shouting text into normal sentences.

How to use it

  1. Paste your text into the «Input Text» field; the placeholder reads Type your text here...
  2. Press CONVERT TO UPPERCASE and every letter is raised to a capital in one go.
  3. Check the «Output» field — digits, spaces and punctuation are left untouched.
  4. Press COPY TO CLIPBOARD to take the finished string to your layout or spreadsheet.
  5. Keep it to headlines: a whole paragraph set in caps is noticeably slower to read.

FAQ

How do I convert existing text to caps without retyping?

Paste it into the input field, press CONVERT TO UPPERCASE and use COPY TO CLIPBOARD to take the result. Nothing needs retyping, and your original stays in the top field while the tab is open so you can adjust and run it again.

How is this different from Caps Lock?

Caps Lock only affects what you type next; it does nothing to text you already have. Here an existing string — pasted from an email, a spreadsheet or a chat — is converted in a single press, all of it at once.

How are special letters handled?

Unicode case rules apply, so accented Latin and Cyrillic letters raise correctly. German ß expands to SS in upper case per the standard, which is browser behaviour rather than a bug on this page.

Can I convert back to lower case?

Not here — this page only goes one direction. Use the lowercase converter in the same text tools section. Note that a round trip will not restore where the original capitals were; that information is lost on the first pass.

Why is a full paragraph in caps a bad idea?

All-caps text removes the distinctive shape of words, so readers can no longer recognize them at a glance and reading slows down. In messages and forums it also reads as shouting. Keep caps for a headline, a button or a short accent.

Is it suitable for currency codes, ISBNs and serial numbers?

Yes, that is a common use. ISO 4217 currency codes, country codes and most promo code formats are written in capitals. Paste a column of values, convert, and paste it back — line breaks are preserved line for line.

Where does the pasted text go?

It stays in your browser. The page does not send field contents to a server; a small script on the page does the conversion. Closing the tab leaves nothing stored anywhere and nothing to recover.
